Silicones are identified in facial skincare products as having the potential to cause acne as they can trap dirt on the skin and block pores. In the context of a continence hygiene product, there is the danger of skin damage from urine or faeces. The Contiplan cleans the skin with the wipe as the formulation is applied and would therefore be a low risk when used on perineal skin. Contiplan has been dermatologically tested and has been confirmed to be safe for use on skin.
