Silicones are identified in facial skincare products as having the potential to cause acne as they can trap dirt on the skin and block pores, however in the context of a continence hygiene product where there is the danger is skin damage from urine or faeces - the skin is cleaned as it is applied and would therefore be a low risk when used on perineal skin. Contiplan has been dermatologically tested and has been confirmed to be safe for use on skin.
